Access Changes Everything Inc.
I am Lisa Snider, the Senior Digital Accessibility Consultant, Trainer and Owner of Access Changes Everything Inc., a Canadian digital accessibility consulting company.
‘Access Changes Everything’ has been my favourite saying over the past few years. Those three words sum up what I am passionate about: I want to help make the digital world barrier free, so that everyone can access information.
When barriers from digital materials and media are removed, access changes everything for the person, society and the world.
Access(ibility) Changes Everything
Access(ibility) changes everything, because by providing more accessibility, I can help make the digital world barrier free for everyone.
My Accessibility Work
I have been a digital accessibility advocate and specialist since 1999 in weird and wonderful ways.
I have specialized in digital accessibility in different contexts and settings, including as a web developer, archivist, librarian, and since 2016 a senior accessibility consultant and trainer in my company, Access Changes Everything Inc. (ACE).
My passion has been to make the digital world more accessible for people with disabilities. I share my accessibility knowledge through in person and virtual training, workshops, webinars, presentations, audits, remediation, policy development, procurement consulting and user testing services.
I work with a wide variety of North American organizations, businesses and government, including the Government of Nova Scotia, Acadia University, University of Manitoba, City of Winnipeg, Canadian Museum for Human Rights and the Government of Manitoba.
I am an internationally recognized specialist in archival accessibility since 2010, and a well-known accessibility advocate on Twitter under the @archivesmatter Twitter handle.
Legislation is a passion too! From 2017-2018 I was the Chair of the Government of Manitoba’s Accessibility for Manitobans Act Information and Communications Standard Development Committee.
I help make websites, documents (PDF, Word, InDesign, etc.), audio, video, email, EPUBs, born digital materials, electronic signage, social media postings, apps and computers more accessible and usable for everyone.
I provide in person, or remote, user testing with different assistive technologies (and work with local auditors with disabilities), in person demonstrations of assistive technology, automated testing, accessibility audits, accessibility remediation, Word template creation and general archival accessibility consulting.
I also provide training on how to create accessible documents in Word, InDesign, PDF, PowerPoint, etc. As well, I can help clients by consulting on the procurement, or purchasing, process from start to finish.
If you want to know more about my work and projects, there is a partial list of on the Recent Projects page.
